About the Artist
Audrey Kral was born in Wilmington, Delaware, and spent her youth gazing at the clouds and wandering the open fields and streams of Pennsylvania. The dynamic tension and impermanence of life captured her imagination. After graduating with a Master of Science degree from Penn State University, she pursued a career in modern dance and choreography. She performed with companies in San Francisco, Seattle, and St. Louis.
Audrey began creating watercolor paintings while living among artists in the San Francisco Bay Area where she moved after completing her university studies. In 2003, she embraced oil painting. Her technique shows watercolor influences, yet takes full advantage of the rich, creamy characteristics of oil paint.
Her greatest inspiration comes from nature, introspection, and philosophical reflection. She draws upon experiences collected during travel in the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and the South Pacific.
Her work has been shown in San Francisco, Berkeley, Seattle, and Wilmington. In June 2009, her oil paintings were featured in a solo show at the W Hotel, San Francisco. The painting Passion was shown at Chicago's ArtFutura exhibition in June 2009. Her painting Reflection: Power was chosen for the 25th Annual International Exhibition in Tyler, Texas, January 2010.
